Matt

Matt

Manager and Technician

Matt comes from an animal loving family where he grew up raising and showing 4-H animals from rabbits and pigs to lambs and horses. He has always had a dog and learned that he had a true love for cats when he bonded to his first cat Baxter in 1998. (Baxter lived to 21 years of age!). Wildland fire fighting and managing his own fire crew gave him great management experience where he had to manage several people in stressful and potentially life threatening situations. Matt left the job he loved to finish his college degree in Criminal Justice. He spent three years working and managing a veterinary boarding facility where he learned what it took to run a boarding facility as well as picking up some technician skills. Matt is now our bookeeper, Mr Fix It, tech assistant and boarding kennel manager.

Carissa

Carissa

Technician

I moved to the Austin area around 25 years ago from West Texas. I grew up in Carlsbad, NM, and Midland, TX. I met my husband shortly after moving here in 95’ and we’ve been together ever since. We have a 9-year-old daughter, Makena, and 2 dogs. Zoe, a 4-year-old Boston Terrier, and Isla, a 5-month-old Boxer. I’ve had Boxers in my life for the past 25 years. Love the smooshie faces!

I started working with animals when I was 22, and have helped out in all areas of the hospital. From working in the kennel to being a technician, and helping out at reception and inventory manager. I had my daughter in 2011 and decided to stay at home with her. Once she started preschool, I went back to taking care of animals again through walking and pet sitting, and now back to being a technician. I even helped out with horses for a while. I absolutely adore being around animals and definitely missed my time away. One of my favorite things about my job is being able to help calm a nervous pet, and hopefully, make them feel more comfortable during their visit.

When I’m not working with animals, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, and staying active. I love watching scary movies and true crime shows. Yoga and Pilates are some of my favorite ways to exercise, and taking my pups on a hike around my neighborhood. Hawaii is a favorite travel destination for my family. My husband and I were married there in 2007, and I’ve been lucky enough to travel back several times. My daughter is named after the beach we were married at, Makena Beach. Hawaii is definitely my happy place and I would love to live there someday!

I was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where my father was stationed in Fort Brag. From being an Army Brat, I lived in Germany to upstate New York, Houston, and then finally landing in Austin.. At the age of sixteen, while in High School, I acquired a job that I maintained for twenty years. With my many years of experience, I’ve become a dedicated and loyal hard worker who has outstanding customer service skills and always gives 100percent. My love for animals has always been present my entire life. I have had many different animals growing up, from turtles to hedgehogs, rabbits, dogs, and cats. I was that little girl that always came across an injured animal and brought it home. I enjoy spending time with my family. My Husband Chris, my Daughter Lanah, Son Austin, and my fur babies Izzy and Charlie. Oh! and I can’t forget my hermit crab, Mr. krabs! My favorite things to do is watch my daughter at her Barrel Racing lessons or getting me some Donkey love at my Mom and Dad’s Ranch in Lampasas. I’m very excited to be part of this amazing team and look forward to meeting you and your babies!
Lisa

Lisa

Receptionist

I grew up in Green, Wisconsin, and in 2012 moved to Austin. Before moving here, I met my husband, and we were married in 2014. I come from a large family of 9 and have two daughters and eight grandchildren.

For the past 20 years, I’ve worked in a call center. In 2020 I decided to leave the 4×4 cubicle to find a job where I could continue to help people face to face. I love animals, so I decided to find a position where I could continue to help people and meet their adorable pets.

We have two dogs, Maxx and Rocko, that keep us entertained when our grandkids are not visiting. I love to cook, spend time with my grandchildren, and hang out at the pool on my days off.
