Matt

Matt

Manager and Technician

Matt comes from an animal loving family where he grew up raising and showing 4-H animals from rabbits and pigs to lambs and horses. He has always had a dog and learned that he had a true love for cats when he bonded to his first cat Baxter in 1998. (Baxter lived to 21 years of age!). Wildland fire fighting and managing his own fire crew gave him great management experience where he had to manage several people in stressful and potentially life threatening situations. Matt left the job he loved to finish his college degree in Criminal Justice. He spent three years working and managing a veterinary boarding facility where he learned what it took to run a boarding facility as well as picking up some technician skills. Matt is now our bookeeper, Mr Fix It, tech assistant and boarding kennel manager.

Carissa

Carissa

Technician

I moved to the Austin area around 25 years ago from West Texas. I grew up in Carlsbad, NM, and Midland, TX. I met my husband shortly after moving here in 95’ and we’ve been together ever since. We have a 9-year-old daughter, Makena, and 2 dogs. Zoe, a 4-year-old Boston Terrier, and Isla, a 5-month-old Boxer. I’ve had Boxers in my life for the past 25 years. Love the smooshie faces!

I started working with animals when I was 22, and have helped out in all areas of the hospital. From working in the kennel to being a technician, and helping out at reception and inventory manager. I had my daughter in 2011 and decided to stay at home with her. Once she started preschool, I went back to taking care of animals again through walking and pet sitting, and now back to being a technician. I even helped out with horses for a while. I absolutely adore being around animals and definitely missed my time away. One of my favorite things about my job is being able to help calm a nervous pet, and hopefully, make them feel more comfortable during their visit.

When I’m not working with animals, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, and staying active. I love watching scary movies and true crime shows. Yoga and Pilates are some of my favorite ways to exercise, and taking my pups on a hike around my neighborhood. Hawaii is a favorite travel destination for my family. My husband and I were married there in 2007, and I’ve been lucky enough to travel back several times. My daughter is named after the beach we were married at, Makena Beach. Hawaii is definitely my happy place and I would love to live there someday!

Donovan

Donovan

Kennel Technician

Donovan is a Sophomore at Leander High School. He has been around animals for his entire life and because he is Dr Walden’s son, he has been surrounded by veterinary medicine since before he was born. It was natural for his first job to be at Whitestone Animal Hospital. His background besides hanging out at the vet hospital with his Mom and Dad includes training his Miniature Australian Shepherd Kip. He and Kip have done obedience training, agility training and got their first level of Trick Dog Certification. Kip enjoys spending the entire day by his side while he is in Virtual school and used to know exactly what time Donovan’s bus would arrive and would be at the door waiting for him. Although Kip holds a special part of Donovan’s heart, he also has a cat named Don Gato and a flock of chickens that he raises for eggs before they join the Walden Chicken Retirement Home. Life outside of the animal world includes being part of the IB program at Leander High School, in the Marching Band, and playing Paint Ball or video games with his friends.
Emma

Emma

Kennel Technician

Emma prides herself in making sure the boarding pets are always cheerful. She is quiet, but you will often see her in one of our yards just sitting and chatting with one of the boarding dogs. She was born and raised in the Austin area. Growing up, she enjoyed being on a dance team and raising goats in FFA. Emma is now a student at Leander High School. She has dreams of being a dermatologist when older. When she’s not studying, she spends her time either playing with her dogs, drawing, or watching a movie with her family. She lives with her parents, sister, and dogs: Bella and Scout; Emma loves dogs and cats and treats every one of the boarding pets like her own, making sure they’re always happy boarding at Whitestone.
Jordan

Jordan

Receptionist

Jordan brings with her a strong customer service background by managing restaurants and working in tech start ups as well as the Perot Museum in Dallas TX. Her vibrant personality and ability to keep things organized are her strong points. She is often the first smile that you will see when you enter our hospital. She was born and raised in Houston Texas and comes from a long line of animal rehabbers and rescuers. Growing up with multiple dogs, cats, snakes, turtles, parrots and an occasional raccoon, opossum, duck or bird started her love for all living things.

For many years, before she met the love of her life, she wrote, sang and recorded music for her own band. If you ever want to hear some beautiful music then just go Karaoke with her! She built her own music studio where she recorded her own EP. She shares her home with a Newfoundland named Oso, a Swiss mountain dog, Pollo, Tibetan terrier, Cooper, a Greek tortoise named Grootie, a Bearded Dragon named Gordito and 4 fresh water fish. She shares her little animal kingdom with her husband Cord, son Preston and twin daughters Carley and Harper.

Dianna

Dianna

Receptionist

I was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where my father was stationed in Fort Brag. From being an Army Brat, I lived in Germany to upstate New York, Houston, and then finally landing in Austin.. At the age of sixteen, while in High School, I acquired a job that I maintained for twenty years. With my many years of experience, I’ve become a dedicated and loyal hard worker who has outstanding customer service skills and always gives 100percent. My love for animals has always been present my entire life. I have had many different animals growing up, from turtles to hedgehogs, rabbits, dogs, and cats. I was that little girl that always came across an injured animal and brought it home. I enjoy spending time with my family. My Husband Chris, my Daughter Lanah, Son Austin, and my fur babies Izzy and Charlie. Oh! and I can’t forget my hermit crab, Mr. krabs! My favorite things to do is watch my daughter at her Barrel Racing lessons or getting me some Donkey love at my Mom and Dad’s Ranch in Lampasas. I’m very excited to be part of this amazing team and look forward to meeting you and your babies!
Lisa

Lisa

Receptionist

I grew up in Green, Wisconsin, and in 2012 moved to Austin. Before moving here, I met my husband, and we were married in 2014. I come from a large family of 9 and have two daughters and eight grandchildren.

For the past 20 years, I’ve worked in a call center. In 2020 I decided to leave the 4×4 cubicle to find a job where I could continue to help people face to face. I love animals, so I decided to find a position where I could continue to help people and meet their adorable pets.

We have two dogs, Maxx and Rocko, that keep us entertained when our grandkids are not visiting. I love to cook, spend time with my grandchildren, and hang out at the pool on my days off.

We cherish your pet as though they were family.
