Dr. Wendy Walden, DVM
Owner and Veterinarian
I have known that I wanted to work with animals since I was in kindergarten. Growing up I was surrounded by hamsters, rats, mice, dogs, rabbits, birds, cats, and guinea pigs and people would always ask if wanted to be a vet. My answer was “no,” I wanted a job where animals wanted to come to see me. I fell in love with veterinary medicine after taking my first college biology class and working in a veterinary hospital the following summer. I started to realize that the patients did appreciate that we were trying to help them.
I graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor’s in Animal Science in 1998 and then my Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2002. My husband and I moved to Las Vegas so that he could finish his college degree. After he graduated in 2006, we moved to the Austin area, and I went to work at a wonderful hospital. After working there for over a decade and serving as the Medical Director for five years, I left to pursue my dream of owning my own practice…Whitestone Animal Hospital.
My favorite part of working in this profession is getting to know my clients and their pets. Watching families and pets grow is so rewarding. I have a passion for dentistry and preventative care. I do love complicated internal medicine cases, pain management, and infectious disease workups. I am Fear Free trained and a member of the Association of Feline Practitioners. I also do work for the Central Texas Rat Rescue and with two Wildlife Rehab groups. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t have a little animal ranging from a rat to a skunk in my arms.
Acupuncture grabbed my interest during veterinary school. I earned my certification to practice acupuncture from Colorado State University in 2004, and I’m currently taking courses in Integrative Herbal Medicine. I always knew I could do more for my acupuncture patients, so started taking courses to become Veterinary Rehabilitation Certified at the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in May of 2024. I have finished my course work that included 40-50 hours of online classwork and 80 hours of classroom work and hands on labs. I will be doing a 40 hour internship to finalize my certification in the Fall of 2024.
When not at work, my husband Matt and I enjoy spending time with our three kids Donovan, Cassidy, and Brinley. We also enjoy our animal family which includes 6 Mini-Aussies, three cats ( I have an extra soft spot for black cats and have two), one prairie dog, a dozen fish, two pot belly pigs, and a dozen chickens.

Growing up, I never really imagined being a vet. I had pets growing up and showed pigs in high school, and in almost all of my pictures from when I am younger, I have some sort of animal in my hands. It wasn’t until our sweet old Weimeraner got sick that I realized how much of an impact vets have on not just the animals, but the people. That is what I love most about this career, is getting to love and serve my community by helping their four-legged kiddos feel better and stay healthy.
I graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor’s in Animal Science in 2016 and with my Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in May of 2020 (Whoop). During that period, I worked from a kennel technician to a veterinary technician, which made me fall in love with the profession even more. I have gotten to learn from Dr. Walden throughout my training, and when the opportunity arose to work alongside her, I knew I could not pass up the offer.
When I am not doing veterinary medicine, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, and being outdoors. July 2022 our family grew by one when our daughter Kinsey arrived and now consumes most of my free time! On long weekends, we love weekend trips around Texas and spending time with family. I also have a huge passion for service work and veterinary missions.
I am ecstatic to be part of the Whitestone team. Cedar Park is my hometown, and I always knew I wanted to end up back in the area.

For as long as I can remember. I have always wanted to be a veterinarian. From an early age, I loved animals, and everyone told me I should be a veterinarian when I grew up. I decided that sounded like a great idea! It wasn’t until I started my first job working at a veterinary clinic as a kennel technician that I realized there was so much more to being a veterinarian than just loving animals. The more I worked in veterinary clinics, I realized that I not only loved being around animals, but I also loved working with people. I love meeting the people who come into the hospital with their pets and getting to know their story and see the unique bond they share with their pets. Getting to work with both people and their pets is something I love about veterinary medicine.
I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, and went to Auburn University, where I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences in 2017. After this, I decided to attend Texas A&M for my veterinary degree. I moved to Texas for veterinary school and after being here for only a few months, I fell in love with Texas and decided to make it my home! I now have a son that was born in January of this year. One of my interests within the field of veterinary medicine is practicing Fear Free medicine. I have a soft spot for animals who are scared to come to the vet and enjoy working with those animals to make sure they have the best experience possible. I also work hard to prevent this fear from starting in young animals by making every veterinary visit a positive experience.
In my free time, I love to travel, hike and play tennis with my husband. We have a Mini Australian Shepherd named Cinna, who is the third member of our family. I am very passionate about veterinary mission trips, which is another reason I chose veterinary medicine. I have been able to be a part of several trips to Honduras and the Dominican Republic, and I am excited to be able to continue these trips in the future.

I am so excited to join Whitestone Animal Hospital. I have worked with Dr Walden and Dr Kramr in the past and glad we are working together again. I was born and raised on a Cattle ranch in Southwest Florida surrounded by animals as my Daddy was a rancher and my Mom was rehabbing local wildlife. After graduating from the University of Florida in 2012, I practiced in Florida for a few years then made my way to Austin in 2016. I have a passion for Internal Medicine, challenging eye cases, senior pet health and allergies.
When not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband Miechel (newlyweds as of March 2022!), dog Nico and chasing our toddler Wade (I was a proud single Foster to Adopt Mom!) around. I now have a daughter as of January of this year. I enjoy hiking, gardening, live music and watching sporting events. I am still involved in the local foster program hoping to adopt more kids!

Dr. Walden and Dr. Kramr have worked with her before and jumped at the opportunity to have her fill shifts every Thursday and a few Wednesdays/Fridays. She is a University of Florida graduate and an amazing vet. She can handle every aspect of your pet’s needs, from wellness to critical care. We are glad to be working with her again!
